An offshore module to SAIPEM for the GIRASSOL oil field, operated by TOTAL.

The module, contracted in April 2013 to STX France SA’s Marine Energy Business Unit, in
coordination with Cofely Axima (GDF SUEZ Group); is to be installed by SAIPEM on board of the GIRASSOL FPSO, operated by SONANGOL and TOTAL off the Angolan coast.

The TLM (Top Lifting Module), now measuring 26mx14mx19m as per customer order change during the course of the project, is made of two stacked rooms designed to receive an air conditioning plant on top of an electrical substation. Its integration on the FPSO meets the need to optimize the oil field’s production following the installation of new sub-sea pumping equipment.

STX France and its subsidiary STX Solutions carried out the engineering of the TLM’s structure, architecture and integration, as well as its industrialization, fabrication, painting and assembly. Upon signature of the contract, STX France contracted Actemium (VINCI group) with the engineering and the construction of the electric systems and installations. Cofely Axima was in charge of the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of the module’s HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) plant. The high level of
quality, the pre-commissioning and commissioning are destined to minimize the offshore works and thus to facilitate the short interruption timeframe of the field’s production.

“Considering the module’s complexity, the on-time delivery is a great success for the teams of Cofely Axima, Actemium and STX France. Once again, our well-established partnership has proved to work perfectly. We have shown our ability to meet Oil & Gas customers’ demanding quality and safety requirements and thus hope that this success will be followed by other projects,“ said Laurent Castaing, CEO of STX France.

“For us, this project is a new reference which enabled us to work on the whole process from the engineering to the commissioning of the HVAC plant,” added Philippe Le Berre, Managing Director at Cofely Axima.
